(Sold) Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible

We bought the car in June 2016 from a wedding car hire company whose owner was retiring It was bought to enhance our existing fleet of classics as we were moving to an ‘All White’ wedding car fleet. The car came with a good load of documentation including the Crewe production documentation. It had at one time been owned by Lord Sainsbury who had all the leather redone to his chosen style and colour – all cream including the dashboard.

After 5 years It was then used by various Sainsbury family members and was bought by the previous owner with a genuine 32,000 miles from Jack Barclay. Since then, it was maintained – as he puts it – regardless of cost. He maintained a pretty thorough record of work done.

MOTs go back to 2002.I bought it with 62,782 miles recorded – so broadly only 9000 miles over approximately 7 years. During our time, we have again maintained such as a car as this as you would expect. Anything noted on MOT ‘s has been dealt with and the current certificate merely notes a few minor items which will be rectified prior to sale.

Major work and the only full service needed has been undertaken by a Rolls Royce specialist garage and other minor or bodywork issues by a local garage. Two major items required attention: the rear suspension needed replacing shortly after using it and the sills needed full rear replacement recently prior to its MOT (as advised on the previous MOT) This was not just a patch up but a full replacement – photos available.

All other work needed from time to time has been carried out (e.g. new wiper motor, speedo, tuning parts etc). I consider she is mechanically in excellent condition. The bodywork is also better than good. There is the occasional odd rust spot but the work on rust in the front wings was seen to some time ago. The upholstery is also fine for its age and, as said, had been redone by the Sainsbury family.

The car comes with deep pile lambswool over rugs and a waterproof cover for the occasional time outdoors. Registered: 30/06/1987, White, 5+ owners.
